The new snow has had time to settle and bond. Wind has been moving it at higher elevations. An older layer of early-season snow could be a problem in places where there was consistent snow cover - it is weak and sugary.
Size 2 windslab seen on Jan 3rd - probably happened early on the 2nd during a period of strong W winds. Crown quite deep, around 100 cm ?
Multiple size 1, possibly 2, storm slabs off steeper parts of Chrdili, NW aspect
On December 22nd, snow cover in the high alpine zone was 30 - 50 cm. Around 100 cm of new snow now sits on top of the early snow, which is weak and facetted (sugary crystals). Windslabs were formed by W winds before and after the recent snowfall.
Fine and cool the next 3 days, warming a little by Monday. Light W winds.
Rocky areas under the new snow layer. As the sun hits lower elevation slopes, expect loose snow slides as the snow surface warms.
